Mae’s Agenda
Future of our Communities
I will work with community leaders, and families to address issues that affect their county. Where you live must not determine the level of access you have to vital resources. This speaks to the urgency of the importance for more funding for under invested neighborhoods. No one solution can solve all problems, with that I will work with elected officials, community leaders and resident to Improve our neighborhoods.
Jobs
Access to steady employment is a big issue in the inner-city, and across county lines. I will work with elected officials to create a plan to add more jobs for our youth, and the unemployed. Our youth are our future. I will push forward an agenda to make sure our youth have proper access to summer jobs, and make sure there is proper funding for summer programs. In the past our youth have been compromised by funding, I will push hard to make sure this is a thing of the past.
Housing
Vacant and abandoned buildings have become rampant throughout our communities. The Albany County Land Bank acquires those tax foreclosed. vacant and abandoned properties throughout Albany County and sells them to buyers. I will work to have these properties owned by people who live and work here.
Equal Justice for All
Racial disparities in the criminal justice system is at an all-time high. A disproportionate number of minorities, and low- level criminals are flooding the jails, at tax payers’ expense. It is time for elected officials and the justice system to revisit criminal punishment. I will work hard to end these disparities and make the Community safe and a better place.
Mental health
A growing Epidemic is on the rise when it deals with health care. Health issues that stem from mental health, health for the elderly and health care discrimination. I will work hard to make sure that people who are affected by these issues’ voices are heard by our Elected officials.
